If your child is going be absent or tardy for any reason, please contact the school as soon as possible at 336-8870, ext. 2622 so that we are aware your child is safe.
If the office does not hear from you, your child’s absence will be considered unexcused. Students arriving between 7:45 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. are considered tardy.
If there will be a change to your child’s after-school transportation on any given day, please send a note to your child’s teacher and notify the school office at 336-8870, ext 2590.
If someone else, other than a parent, will be picking up your child we must have their full name and their relationship is to the student. Let the person who will be picking up your student know that they will be asked to present a picture identification to the School's Administrative Assistant. They will also be required to sign the student out so that we have a record documenting the name of the person who picked up your child. This is both for the safety of your child and our staff.
Help Your Child Succeed in School: Build the Habit of Good Attendance Early School success goes hand in hand with good attendance!
Parents and families are essential partners in promoting good attendance because they have the bottom-line responsibility for making sure their children get to school every day. Just as parents should focus on how their children are performing academically, they have a responsibility to set expectations for good attendance and to monitor their children’s absences, so that missed days don’t add up to academic trouble. Strategies include:
- Make getting students to school on time every day a top priority.
- Alert schools and community agencies to barriers that keep kids from attending class.
- Ask for and monitor data on chronic absence.
- Demand action to address systemic barriers that may be causing large numbers of students to miss too much school.
Consistent attendance is an integral part of your child's education. Student absences are tabulated on a regular basis to track any students who may be having issues with truancy. We ask that you try to maintain your student's daily attendance by scheduling appointments, etc., during after school hours whenever possible. If possible, try to plan family trips during scheduled school breaks so as to avoid lengthy absences during the school year.
Thank you for your partnership.
